   Amen! When I direct school and little theater even today, I don’t allow mics. I was brought up without them (I’m still in my 50s btw), and think they are nothing but trouble (feedback, tech issues) Just learn to project, people.

   Yes, I (‘she’ by the way not ‘he’ for the record) was thinking about the original poem. I’m actually not even familiar with the song, although I did enjoy my dad’s Simon and Garfunel album, but I don’t think in contained that song. I hadn’t even thought about that poem for years until I read Cohen’s comment, then suddenly the poem hit me.
