I understand. But America would not be America without the Puritan and Separatist sentiments of the early New England colonists. They felt that if they could question the Church they had no problem questioning the King. Their descendents triggered the events of the Revolution.
My high school class has yet to have an official reunion. It’s been 40+ years. Most of those old poops don’t have the energy to organize anything any more.
Did Butker know that he was a KC kicker, a pseudo-celebrity? Yes, this fact was known to him. It’s WHY he was asked to speak. He KNEW that his words would be carefully scrutinized and he KNEW that they would be found, as you said, PUTRID.
When people can publicly speak hate we must be prepared to meet it swiftly with a strong, compassionate, thoughtful response. He can say what he likes. But he must always remember that the filth in his soul is there for all to see.
He was not speaking FOR anything, he was speaking AGAINST women. It had nothing to do with religion. He was telling people that women should be treated as second class citizens.
“His people” were not the target. You were. And others. He knew his words would spread. And, in some, they will grow.
