That’s how I realized that Cindy, and later, Tucker, had gone deaf—they no longer responded to the call of “treats”, or the shaking of the bags.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your FIL’s devoted little friend. But that is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful little soul.

Tuffy was my first boy cat, and the first of my kitties to go to the Rainbow Bridge. He was black and white, a “Holstein” kitty. He was my guardian, took every step along with me, slept cuddled in the curve of my neck as I held his paw, even got up in the middle of the night to escort me to the bathroom and back. When he got old and arthritic and it was hard for him to get up and down from the bed, he stood at attention on the corner of the bed until I returned. Tuffy passed away from a stroke, after suffering from an illness that defied diagnosis, 29 years ago tonight, and it’s because of him that I light a candle for each of my angel kitties on the anniversary of their passing. Tuffy, if your sweet little spirit would like to drop in for a visit tonight, your candle is burning to light your way. Love you and miss you.

I love Luna! She reminds me so much of my late GinGin, who had a very broad nose and looked more like a panther than a house cat (he was also very large for a non MC cat).

Oh my. Two days is not enough notice to pack up your whole place. People just have no common sense these days. Try to keep calm and carry on at your own pace, and feel free to vent here whenever you need to.

Things have changed with knee replacements. When Partner had his done 11 years ago, he spent a couple of days in hospital, two weeks at home on a walker and pain kilkers, then a few weeks of physical therapy. I’ve been doing therapy for my hip for several years, and I’ve seen many knee replacement patients come and go. They frequently go home same day, and start therapy within a couple of days of release. Of course, they need a driver at first. As for equipment, Partner had a shower chair, a high rise potty chair that fit over the toilet, and a kit that provided a sponge on a long handle for showering, and a thingie to help him get his socks on. Of course, I was able to stay with him full time for a couple of weeks, and his sister for another couple of weeks when I had to go back to work. Otherwise, he would have had to go to inpatient rehab for a couple of weeks. I think that might be a good choice for you, especially if you’re not comfortable with having strangers in your home.
