Hello! I'm the cartoonist behind 'Breaking Cat News!' I enjoy illustrating, cartooning, baking, antique shops, old-timey detective shows, and anything with avocados. Wife, mother, cat lover. One day I hope to be a little old lady who rides around town on her bicycle solving mysteries.

In sixth grade, our teacher used to intercept our notes and read them to the class. My Mom had a book about Viking Runes and in the back was a rough alphabet that could be used with the symbols. Myself, Trevor’s Woman, and a few classmate friends each memorized them from little keys I wrote and passed out. We hollowed out pens and began to pass notes rolled up inside them, but it wasn’t long until we were caught again. The look on the teacher’s face when she tried to read the first one was worth all the effort, lol!! And to this day, I have it memorized and there it is. Bonus: I still text or send direct messages to many of these same ladies regularly, some almost daily. We’re still passing notes, after all this time!

Thank you everyone for understanding and enjoying a week of classic strips! The kids and I are all thankfully now recovered from norovirus, but WOW, that was not fun, whew! I’ll take the flu any day over that, it was thoroughly not a good time!

Yes! The kids and I sadly contracted norovirus during a campout a few weeks ago, and it took us all down. I requested a week of classic strips so I could care for all of us until it passed. My editor kindly put these together!

I have been tempted, lol! I’m scared it would somehow become a “Monkey Paw” situation, haha—that was one of my Opa’s very favorite stories to tell! He did a marvelous job with it each time he told it.

I did!! I remembered it when we all got sick, lol. Once again, the comic had some eerie timing!

I sent a message into work and a ticket’s being created to look into it!

I feel like a lot of familiar names are missing right now? When my profile wouldn’t let me back in, I was getting black screen with some writing letting me know to contact tech. Luckily, I can since I have the contacts—but I’m wondering if other people’s profiles have similarly “gone blank”? I could still read comments when I was locked out. If you’re in this situation and can see this comment, please email me at breakingcatnews@ and I’ll try to get your GoComics profile looked into if I can!

I’ve had some trouble over the past week too, and I’ve noticed our comments are down in an unusual way? Hmmm… I’m going to check in and see if maybe something is happening! They may not know, we’re a tighter commenting-community than most! It would make sense that we might notice first!

Based on true events, but Lupin was the coffee mug pusher, lol!!

Hello Kaylin, I saw this comment a few days ago while I was locked out of my account. I could not comment or like, but I was still peeking in to read. Like others here, I also missed the original comment. But I also admire you taking the moment to reflect and apologize. And please—especially as I navigate my own feelings of sadness, loss, and anger in my own divorce right now—know all is forgiven. Those feelings come up suddenly and unexpectedly. It’s truly grief. Here’s to the dreams we had for ourselves, the lives we tried to make in good faith, and here’s to a hope that tomorrow brings comfort, new dreams, and unexpected joys.

HELLO EVERYONE!! I’m sorry I have been missing from the comments for a bit! I managed to somehow lock myself out from my account (a reoccurring theme… just lucky I guess, lol! Many thanks to the tech folks at GoComics for getting me back in). And then on top of that, the kids and I caught norovirus last week! WHEW! That was NOT GREAT, lol! A week of classic strips are coming in the near future, because I had to take the week to care for the Girl, the Boy, and then myself. Thankfully, we’re all recovered! I’m delighted to be back here in the comments, and glad so many of you enjoyed this Sunday strip. It was so much fun to paint! Happy Sunday!
