Wrong again. At least your consistent. WWII ended the Great Depression. WWII was government spending shot through the roof. Literally, Keynesian spending. Trump & Biden’s spending during the pandemic likely prevented a recession, if not a depression. Remember how Obama was criticized for not getting the US on a quicker path of recovery? That’s because many Economists said his spending bills weren’t adequate to boost us out of the Great Recession (thank you Bush, jr.).
There are no absolutes. Pragmatically, when times are good, debt should be paid down and needless or redundant programs culled. (Politically, that seems to be an impossibility) When times are bad, government is the only entity that can mitigate on a large scale the impact of downturns.
Inflation is not “runaway”. Read some history or just look around the world (you could start with Turkey’s 67% or Argentina’s 276% among others) to see what runaway inflation looks like.
But, wait: if your guy wins in November and he makes the tax cuts permanent AND institutes the tariffs he claims he will, then you’ll really see some inflation.
It’s a shame you never made it beyond the 100 level Econ. classes; you might be correct more often if you had.
Maybe dude doesn’t recognize that he’s arguing for a chaotic performance. Who’d want to hear the candidates’ positions on topics Americans deem to be important when we can have more performative politics, right? Quite a middle school position.
Personally, I will not be disappointed if he is found not guilty (although the bribe scenario, if there was evidence, would change my mind). The NY case was always the weakest, but from what I’ve read the evidence certainly seems to be there for conviction.
However, I’m not so invested in the result that I’ll lose any sleep over it. If that does happen, we can then watch the MAGA crowd’s respect for the judicial system do a 180.
The book I’m reading now, “The Coddling of the American Mind” (Lukianoff & Haidt) touches on this. He even changed the work schedule in the House and advised his caucus to not buy homes in DC. Fly in and out so there would be no intermixing with the Democrats.
I knew of his divisive nature before, but I’m learning more & more the particulars of his disgusting actions.
That’s not one I’m saying. The right uses the “fleeing CA” as if ALL are fleeing CA. I do not believe in absolutes like that, so it was a simple counter argument to that broad generalization.
And if he’s acquitted? Immediately restores your faith in the American justices system? Or, at least until the next trial?
