'Imogen Quest' Creator Satirizes Stress At BAHFest East
by Caleb GoellnerThey say that laughter is the best medicine, and that's got a lot to do with the fact that it helps reduce the effects of the human body's pesky stress hormone cortisol. But what if cortisol were ~good~ for you? How would one go about amplifying their uptake and ensuring a *totally healthy* heart that would work, like, super well? Imogen Quest creator Olivia Walch posits that the key to longevity for older adults may just be utterly fruitless arguments with teens on the internet.
Walch made her case recently at BAHFest East 2017 AKA The Festival of Bad Ad Hoc Hypotheses. The festival describes itself as "a celebration of well-argued and thoroughly researched but completely incorrect scientific theories," and Walch's is truly one for the ages. It's fertile ground for Walch, who has a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan Department of Neurology -- y'know, aside from being a hilarious cartoonist.
