As a kid ,I always had to sit in the back seat. By the time I would see the Burma Shave signs we’d have already passed most of them. Never got to read them all. Hope someone remembers some of them for me.

Leave out the “or ball” sign and it would nearly scan. Also drop “and” from the third sign and it would scan perfectly.

    Angels who guard you

Farm Bureau has been using these signs, too.

This one is from the area where I grew up in Northern Arizona:
    “Elk are large
    In herds they run
    Across the Highway
    Don’t hit one!!”

If Mr. Barnaby was thinking of becoming a professional poet, I would suggest he keep his day job.

On second thought, it’s no worse than 99% of what passes for poetry these days!

For some reason the Styx song Too much time on my hands comes to mind.

“Hope someone remembers some of them. . .”

    Said Farmer Brown
    Who’s bald on top,
    Wish I could
    Rotate the crop.

    Cattle Crossing
    Means “Go Slow”’
    That old bull
    Was some cow’s beau.

Those are the two that I remember from my childhood country drives with my parents.
Dad had to explain both of them to me.
