    Something most experts agree on is the one-syllable rule. If a singular noun ending in “s” has more than one syllable, it is to be made possessive with only an apostrophe. This is usually applied to names and places, so, for example:To show Mr. Jones possessing something, you would write “Mr. Jones’s.”To show Mr. Matthis as possessing something, you would write “Mr. Matthis’.”In this case, Janis is two syllables so it would be Janis’ and not Janis’s.

    I stumbled across Mt. Pleasant yesterday because Go Comics had the Mt. Pleasant comic accidentally show up in place of Brewster Rockit. I like it and have now added it to my regulars. :-)
