I don’t use google. My dictionary came up with excarvation lake, flooded gravel pit and quarry pond. As usual I was unsure of which one to use. What might be the differences of those terms?
I was looking for an Engl. word for “Baggersee”. That would be a place where for example sand was mined overground. Then the big hole was filled up with water and become a lake. Hope that makes sense.
Yes, thanks for the memory. My father told me the same. But on an old rail tracks where no trains were rolling. Stupidly we kids tried it also on the tracks where Intercity trains rushed through. Before we crossed them to get to the excavation lake (where we also were not allowed to play).
