Ted Rall for January 17, 2008
Transcript:
After a hard day of strike-breaking, Jon Stewart signs off with his signature ironic eyebrow thing. An ambivalent good night to you! Back in 1938, a group of burly union members wanders into a wormhole that goes to 2008. Tensions rise outside comedy central as smirky ambivalence meets earnest contempt. In a hurry, scab? The union isn't happy with you. I'm not a scab! I use dry wit and aloof irony! Stewart's wry, vaguely left-of-center wit fails to register with the visitors from a more straightforward time. Union-busting scum! I can't miss out on satirizing the primaries! Look! My eyebrows! Fortunately, emergency service workers refuse striking writers' request to honor their picket lines. But I subject my republican guests to droll jibes!
