The joke is funny, but the underlying assumption that the roomful of workers was somehow better is wrong.
If hiring tons of workers were the goal, then we could replace email with the pony express, airplanes with covered wagons (remember, teamsters once drove teams of horses, not semis), and agribusiness with each family growing its own food. Just undo the last century or two of progress.
But then we’d have to read the newspaper for our daily comics, and who here wants that?
