For the record, there are LOTS of sermons online, and once while I was on vacation visiting another church, I was shocked to hear the preacher preach something I had just read online. I don’t mind reading other sermons to get a variety of interpretations from which to work, but taking one from online is bad form. In general, preachers work hard on their sermons, tailoring them to the needs or concerns of the particular congregation on a particular day. That means knowing what’s going on in the world and in the lives of the people you address. Again in general, sermons are plotted out weeks in advance, then finalized as the day approaches, and then (as with this Sunday) scrapped due to rapidly changing conditions, in this case three mass shootings in one week.

I figure I missed my calling not being a trash collector or football player. They work just one day a week also.

Fortunately he’s preaching to the converted so they don’t care anyway.
