Political Correctness has been around in some form for a long time but the late Seventies was when it began to be referred to with that term. The answer as always is to develop a thick skin and grow up and to tell others to do the same.
Nowhere in the cartoon above do I see anyone making a threat. What I do see is a representation of society being “offended” by the thoughts and actions of others. We have freedom of speech in this country and that means some people will have to live with that speech whether offended or not.

It’s a little hard to develop a thick skin when bigotry involves bodily harm.
