I have mixed thoughts on prenuptial agreements. For those who have a lot of and/or complex assets going into a marriage, it would help guard against pre textual marriages, where one or the other spouse is just in it for the money. I know, I know, such an agreement is simply preparing for a disaster in case there ever was one and it helps protect both parties. On the other hand, one, to me anyway, seems like there is already doubt about the stability of the marriage and a seeming foretelling of divorce.
Prenups are like life insurance — the only way you can “win” is if you die before you pay too much in premiums. They both still serve a purpose though — if the worst happens, there is protection in place for all parties.
