Adam; Listen, honey. I know people. I can get us Oprah tickets. My dad once met William Conrad. Laura; Who is William Conrad? Adam; Did you just ask who is William Conrad? Laura; Yes I did. Adam; "Cannon"? "Jack and the Fatman"? "Nero Wolfe"? Laura; Nope. Adam; Well, you would have loved him in the "Fatman" role. He was so natural, it was like he wasn't even performing.

I prefer to think of him as the narrator for “Rocky and Bullwinkle.” Be sure to stay tuned for our next exciting episode, “Adam Continues to Blow Smoke,” or “Pipe Dreams.”

Different Conrad altogether, Karen. Conrad of the radio was rather portly had a luxurient moustache! He could play Marshal Dillon on the radio but never on TV!

Marvelous writer, too. One of the great prose styilsts in English Literature, and English was like his third language.
“Heart of Darkness”, wow. Just…wow.

Who is William Conrad? Adam, and you married her anyway?
Don’t forget he also narrated many television programs, “The Fugitive” with David Janssen being one of them. (Yes, there was a Fugitive before Harrison Ford)
And how can one mention William Conrad and Oprah Winfrey in the same conversation? Sacrilege, I tell ya’!

William Conrad was a lousy Nero Wolfe - and Matt Horsley as Archie Goodwin? Puh-leeze!. Rex Stout was spinning in his grave. Maury Chaykin and Timothy Hutton were so much better.

He was great on all of the Rocky and Bullwinkle shows! Jay Ward was a genius. I have the boxed set of the whole series and my kids love to watch, they even get some of that Jay Ward humor injected into the lines delivered by Conrad, who had a great set of pipes.

Did you see him on Laguna Beach and The Hills? Totally unrecognizable. You know he’s had some work done…

Driving to a junior college class I passed an older motel in Gilman Hot Springs. They were filming a Cannon episode. Told a young lady in class and she wanted to go watch. Cut class watched them film and it turned out to be a really fine day for me.(Hopefully for the young lady also.)

Good choice, Adam!

Please note - I was speaking from a Nero Wolfe point of view, not a Robert Conrad. I did like him in other things and, yes, his voice is on a par with James Earl Jones.
