My daughters were great kids but tough to raise. There were a lot of weeks –moreso in the teens– that we’d have long spells of bad communication and my wife and I would feel pretty low about how we were as parents. But then, every once in a while, my daughters would unknowingly commit some small gesture, some gentleness or kindness towards us and it would recharge the batteries and get us energized to keep going.

Hope Mom didn’t leave that little baby sitting on the table while she’s administering hugs …

Sure, take a look at the Keane Kids (Family Circus). They’re same age when their strip began in 1960! PJ (the baby boy) was added in (I think) 1971.

My kids do the same thing. They say the sweetest things right when I think I’m going to lose my mind. <3

And if this were “Family Guy” and Meg said that, Lois would answer, “Never in a million years.”
