“American cheese” is an oxymoron. If it’s “American” it ain’t cheese.

Why would the waste management people care? In fact, I would think they would welcome a recycle program. They would be picking up the recyclables as well as the regular garbage and trash. Either way they are going to get paid. So what’s with all the discussion? Anyway, to speak against recycling is to speak against apple pie and the flag. It’s un-American. You listening Chicago?

I thought this comic had more class. American Cheese is ugh and nothing more than slightly hardened Velveeta.

I burn all paper with personal or financial information on it. You’d be crazy to throw out that stuff unshredded, where ANYONE could find it, especially Big Garbage thugs!

(I didn’t know Adam ate that much cheese. I thought his garbage would be half coffee grounds!)

Los Angeles is opening it’s seventh S.A.F.E. recycling center for hazardous wastes such as insecticides, paint, used motor oil, electronic waste, etc. I use the one in Sun Valley every month or so to dispose of unusable computer parts from my own computer recycling hobby.

American cheese is just cheddar with a higher milk content. It’s not the same as Velveeta, which is processed with corn oil. American cheese is mild but flavorful, melts easily and smoothly, and since it’s commonly sold pre-sliced (whether individually wrapped or no) it’s really convenient for sandwiches. If that’s the ONLY cheese you’ll eat you’re probably 8 years old or younger, but it’s a good thing to have around.

If you use “American cheese” to mean any type of cheese which was developed in America, there’s also Jack. Very good stuff, particularly in that you can get it infused with garlic, pesto, peppers, whatever.

If you use “American cheese” to mean any cheese which is made in America, whether or not it was originally developed elsewhere, we can make it as good as anybody. Don’t know about where you are, but in SF you can get a wide variety of quality cheeses at your local Safeway, and if you go to specialty shops you can find American-made cheese which stacks up with anything in the world.
