    One of the values of working in a service industry job when you’re young is it will quickly show you how hard people in the service industry can work.

    dante, I’m with you. I think EVERYONE should be required to work a minimum-wage job (either service industry or manual labor) for two years after graduation, and have to LIVE OFF their earnings (no help from Mom and Dad). With any luck, once they get their MBA or JD they’ll still have some empathy for those stuck waiting on their tables or emptying their trashcans.
