“Holland" exists (two of them, actually; North Holland and South Holland), but it’s not synonymous with “The Netherlands.” Holland is PART OF the Netherlands. But it’s similar to saying “England” when you mean “The United Kingdom”, or (outdated) calling the entire Soviet Union “Russia.”
