Advantage to creating a reality that isn’t true? That’s easy. Set up a bunch of obedience rules, write stories that declare they come from some spying entity that threatens to punish you after you die, take their money to buy yourself fancy digs and a personal jet. Oh, and don’t forget to partner with governments so you can legally kill anyone daring to question you. Happens all the time.
