Clayton: Dad, your engine light is on. Adam: It's probably just a short in the light. We can ignore it for now. Clayton: I'm having a hard time ignoring it. Adam: Try humming.
try unhooking neg batt wire. it resets the computer. then start engine and see what happens. of course the way things are going you`ll still have to take it to a shop to read the codes. although maybe an expanded chilton book for your car may help
Yeah, because those check engine lights re just there for marketing. They don’t ever suggest your engine might have a problem. Best to just ignore and maybe enjoy a surprise picnic by the side of the road…
Rented a car for a weekend trip to a city 3 hous away. Since I didn’t have a credit card at the time, it wasn’t the best rental company. I woke the fellow up at 6 a.m. before we got 25 km from home the next morning, to say the engine light had come on. He told us to ignore it. We did, and the car got us there and back. But we were nervous the whole trip, so I never went back to his business again. Well, after returning the car, of coures. :)
Had a check eng light on, kept resetting it thinking it was gas cap. turned out to be varmits had a home over my gas tank. ate up sensor, wires and fuel line. cost 1000 in repairs

I’m taking my car to the garage later this morning to see why the check engine light is on.

You can buy a code reader on Ebay for about $25.

Ignore the light at your own peril. Ignoring it can potentially turn a $50 problem into a $5000 problem.

On a car I used to own, the check engine light came on because I didn’t tighten the gas cap enough.

My last two cars, I put black electrical tape over the light so It didn’t bother me. Cars ran for years. Something about a ERG thing plugged.
