What's he doing? Clayton: Wrestling with the inflatable pool. Laura: Oh, yeah. The "throttle the life out of an inanimate object" stage.

When I throttle a dead object it stays dead. Having a dead object come to life would be just plain spooky. Or Frankensteinish.

Next stage is “acceptance of the death of the inanimate object” ie: the service and burial. The kids will demand repatriation.
