Adam: See? Life without the internet isn't so bad. Katy: Dad. This is how kids fall behind. Kids with access to technology are pulling ahead of me as we speak. Adam: The internet's been out for ten minutes. Katy: The world moves fast these days, old man.

Sounds like a needed punishment.

Punishment for what?

I wouldn’t say Katy needs a punishment, although she was a little disrespectful to her dad. The kids do need more time away from screens, I’m working on the same thing with my kids. They’re way too addicted to the internet.

If the ‘net went down, I’d have to read comics in the newspaper again.

10 minutes – C’mon Katy – go outside and get a little fresh air and sun. Walk to the library – they have computers there if you really must get connected.

Yeah, I’d say she is being disrespectful…

We all have our “routines”. Yes, I do depend on the internet for lots of information. But, my only real addiction is to the comics! Those 8 days we were out……………………………..!!!!

The power was out here earlier this week. I called the power company to report the outage. At the end of the process, the recording said something like, “Thank you for your report. To check on repair progress, go to our website…” [?!?]

This arc is so depressing. Are kids these days really like this?? I’m not even old, but I am confident that if my Internet went out, I’d keep my head just fine …

When I used to teach about life in the 1700s, I had one of those ball and cup toys. The kids had a ball playing with it. The teacher remarked that it was probably that it was probably the first time since they were infants they had played with a toy that wasn’t plugged into the wall.

“Old Man”? I think even if the internet comes back, you won’t be seeing it for a while, kiddo!
