Hulk was a teen with anger control issues, skin problems, and constantly outgrowing and splitting out new clothes. Maybe something in the garage can be tweaked into an industrial gamma source.
Coincidentally, today I was discussing the origin of the 1967 Batgirl with my wife, who correctly answered the question of Batgirl’s secret identity in a trivia game. My observation was that her origin — putting on the costume for a masquerade party and then getting involved in stopping a crime, and deciding she liked the superhero life — was one of the tamest on record. No trauma, no supernatural event.

Go to your Netflix account and watch “Miraculous Ladybug.” That may be as close as you get to being a superhero.

Look! Up in the sky. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Beetleman!
