Chainsaw is overkill… use a reciprocating saw with a long blade – I’d recommend a Milwaukee Fuel 12 volt. ;-)

Electric knife. A chainsaw is overkill, and much harder to control.

A reciprocating saw would be better for this job, with a long blade.
