The Sunday after Thanksgiving the kids and I went and got our tree. Talk about sticker shock, almost 25% more than last year. So which is better? Artificial or real? It’s debatable but here’s and interesting article.

Well, I suppose it’s time to kowtow to all the Ho Ho Ho’ers who need their annual injection of “Peace on earth” and “Good will toward men”. Let the eggnog-ing begin.

Adam’s “cup of patience” for once means booze instead of coffee, right?

Our tree is in our basement, under the stairs, behind the spare clothes dryer (which is on wheels) and under the boxes of ornaments and such. All of the boxes has to be put on the clothes washer and (regular) dryer) to get to the tree. Then the 2 sections of the trunk and the stand, and 6 sections of the bottom and the top section of the tree have to be reoved the carton and then individually carried upstairs to the living room, with a stop in between each section to recover from carrying them up the stairs.

Then the boxes of ornaments, etc have to be carried up – again one a time with a stop between each of 4 boxes. Then the loose items in the tree box which are too large for the ornament boxes have to be carried upstairs. Then the assembly etc. Our tree has been setup in the front of our living room. There is a large chest box looking piece of furniture which husband made to store his DVDs in (front drops down using key/lock as handle instead of top lifting) – it is on wheels so it can pushed into the dining room for Christmas season. BUT he bought a small big screen TV which now sits on a table over the chest box and the tree will have to go to the rear of the living room – so the coffee table has to be carried to the dining room and can’t do that until he finishes the weaving project on his loom and stores away his weaving stuff.

We do put our own lights on the tree. One set of them is an old which allows me to still plug in assorted ornaments which do things and won’t work with the newer lights and also I can put the few light covers we have over them – won’t fit over the newer lights.

The best investment I ever made. Fake tree with the lights built in and it’s left up all year long.
