As the line for the returns desk grows ever longer behind Adam. His writer’s block seems ever present, but he doesn’t suffer from talker’s block.

No rambling justifications required, a simple, “it was a gift and it doesn’t fit,” at least according to someone we know who worked returns at a large national store chain.

Many years ago I returned a bedspread explaining that when I got it home, I saw it didn’t fit the decor of the rest of the room. I peeked at what the salesgirl wrote down under Reason for Return. She wrote “Wrong size.”

If you don’t bring the cookies, the story is not relevant. :)

If it doesn’t match the rest of the decor, I would write “Wrong color” on the return slip.

I’m sure the store employee as well as the 25 customers undoubtedly waiting behind you in the returns line this time of year will thank you for your expediency, Adam.
