Sometimes I wonder why comic characters stick together after saying such mean things. In this case, I assume that Agnes and Trout simply have no other friendship prospects.
They’re being FUNNY.This is a CARTOON, and Agnes and Trout are wisecracking but devoted friends. Think Hepburn and Tracy.
