    Yes! “Aspiring to be Almost Adequate” requires firm adherence to inadequacy, for without that, aspiration might make one accidentally ascend to proficiency…..

    Yes….sigh…. proficiency…. the death knell for quietly unnoticed anonymity.

    Now I see what she’s getting at.Chinese philosophers had this metaphor about the tree that was deemed useless that would be allowed to grow into its full maturity and become what it could be…if it was straight and strong it would be cut for lumber, etc.

    Frankly, it’s a good point if you want to find out who you are and can be…don’t show any capability, somebody will hire you for THAT and you’ll get stuck developing that one aspect of yourself…
