Well, that blew her mind.

It reminds me of that confession by Martin Niemöller that was rewritten in English in a poetic form:

“First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me"

To put it another way if black lives don’t matter, the rest of our lives may not matter in the future.

I wish it were true that anyone could get it. I have relatives who are adamant that all this is all a liberal plot to take away more rights from white people and Christians.

Thank you. I have been thinking this for a long time. We all need to stand up for everyone when they are being subjected to injustice. Not everyone is being treated badly all the time, but when there is a group being targeted, then all groups need to stand up for the one group, because if you don’t, what group will stand up for you once all the other groups are gone?
