Gym class was a horror when I was a kid, especially when puberty hit (why gym teachers felt the need to announce to the world when a girl was on her period, I don’t know).
These days I go to the local gym 3 times a week, barring ill health, bad weather (I walk), and plumbers who WON’T CALL BACK (yes, still waiting on a plumber), and it is GREAT. Most of the people there when I go are older, no nasty gym rats making rude comments, and no one objects to my walker. I’m up to 70 pounds on thigh exercises and the rowing machine!
Then the guy in charge walks me out, because exercise makes my dizziness worse…
Pick the right gym and the right time, Amanda, and you too will have fun working out! And trust me, the wrong gym will turn you off exercise for years.
