I never heard of Waffle House before 2003. A friend needed me as a driver for an Arista Records promo tour that zig-zagged across the mid-western and southeastern states. I saw several of these literally across the highway from each other. The Starbuck’s of inexpensive breakfast joints!
Always practical Dan! While traveling many years ago, we stopped at a Waffle House, not even realizing what a big deal they were……just wanted breakfast.
Never ate at a Waffle House since apparently the west coast doesn’t have any. Sounds good though! I love breakfast for just about any meal. We do have some outstanding breakfast places though.
There’s two chains, I think – one in the Midwest (with one practically within walking distance from my childhood home), and I guess elsewhere, but there’s another smaller one with smaller restaurants with same name in the South – much smaller, and they have (ugh) grits on the menu; not as good as the big chain. Speaking of Pennsylvania, we’ve discovered while traveling thru another great breakfast-for-dinner and/or breakfast-all-day chains called “Eat n’Park” – big menu – and they have exotic milkshakes – and pies!

Waffle House is worth the trip. We don’t have them in New Hampshire. We have gone to other areas on purpose just to get WH. Covered and smothered…yum!

This is the best comic yet, since Dan finally got in the last word.

The last time I went into a Waffle House was 10 years ago. It was the epitome of the greasy spoon restaurant.

In the south, we judge disasters by Waffle House. It has to be a major event to close the Waffle House.
