Wish at least one of our animals would prefer my hubs. He says it’s because he has a rough sounding voice but I think it’s his bony legs so his lap is not as comfy as mine.
Some years ago my darling bride and I rescued a cat from the shelter. She attached herself to my wife, whose strong preference is for dogs. After a year of ignoring me, one day she tentatively climbed into my lap as I read, and just like that, she’d transferred her affections, and ignored my wife from that day forward, somewhat to her relief.
I’d love to send a picture of our rescue right now – we are the 5th(!!!) owners/servants; she was 11 (months, that is) when we fell in love with two another (my husband, me and her), she was severely traumatized – and lies here to my feet fast asleep.
She’s way over 14 years old now – and still like a kitten sometimes. And happy.
As I have two kitty boys so it’s hard not to show favorites. Each gets plenty of attention but have split up the day and night so that each get me exclusively for half the day. One on my chair as I type, the other who knows….the other will be on my bed tonight while we watch TV then sleep right next to me all night.
