I’ve had several houses that had counters and never got stools for them. I put bookcases under the one we have now. It has my recipe books and knick-knacks.
My grandkids use mine a lot when I am cooking or baking. We never use them unless we have guests. I only have 2. They get used for stacking stuff on a lot!

We use our stools at the counter. Saves us all of 10 steps going to the table. But our knees really hate that undercounter brace.
