“Griz” and “I heart Grand Forks”—the latter format invented in a taxi by the great graphic designer Milton Glaser, 1976. Ah, procrastination! Yes, if only it were (nice use of the subjunctive mood!) that simple. I too know it’s not.
One thing is certain for me anyway…as much as might like and appreciate a gift for my home, it would never find it’s special space until I’d considered ALL the possibilities for location. It takes TIME to make my place look like it does….but let’s not go there, OKAY!!!!
it took me TEN YEARS to get a piece of original art by Lynda Barry framed and hung, but ONLY two years for a piece by Shaenon Garrity. I got my husband some prints last Christmas and they are still in their mailing tubes waiting to be framed and hung. The struggle… is real.
The trouble with the “just do it” suggestion is that yeah, if you are thinking “Gosh, I still haven’t done THIS”, yes you could stop what u r doing and go do THIS thing… but what about THAT thing? Or the thing over there? There are still 32 or 78 or 613 other things u probably haven’t done, and the “just drop everything and just do it now” advice isn’t gonna work for all of them….

What looks like procrastination from the outside is often process to the artists themselves.

“Would that it were so simple!” One of my favorite lines from “Hail Caesar!” and usable in so many situations!

I have a bunch of plaques that I have been meaning to hang in my office since June. New Year’s resolution: Get the plaques hung!

Don’t let my moniker fool you, I am the biggest procrastinator. I’ll wait until it’s at critical mass before I get to it.

If it were that simple, Amanda would have already done it.
