Well, I only eat one Haagen Daz Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bar a day, at 250 calories. Of course what goes from the carton into the bowl of the other yummy ice cream in my freezer, who can tell?
And the older you get, the harder it is to turn that ship around, unfortunately. I eat my ice cream as it is basically the only dairy I eat. Haven’t gained any weight for years, so I’m not stopping. I consider Drumsticks the perfect dessert ~ ice cream, nuts, chocolate……..
You turn the ship around by making slight course corrections. Don’t cut things out if you can’t handle it right away, but rather cut down. Have that slice of cake, but only ½ of what you would normally have. And before you have that slice, drink a glass of water. And another glass after you eat the slice. If you can substitute sparking water for a diet soda go for that. No more sweetened tea or coffee. Talk to the nutritionist. We dig our graves with our teeth and we can get healthier by improving our diet and other things.
My ship sunk long ago. I eat what I want and just try to watch the portions. I can’t imagine life without my ice cream. Or pie. Or cake, oh my, now I’m hungry.
Trying to convince a 32 yr old son who is obsessed with sugar and processed food, whose family’s history of diabetes and pancreatic cancer among other things has his momma scared. (Praying hands)
About the age I had to make some serious changes regarding food. I’m stubborn, so it’s still evolving for over ten years. I use a method called… trying stuff. Fortunately for the rest of the world I’m the only one that has to eat my own cooking.

if a nutritionist would ask me not to have ice cream – they’re dead.

Even on the strictest diets you probably need a bit of a treat sometimes.

Aw, gosh. I hope you were able to find someone who supported you the ways that helped, and that it’s done some good.
