I’ve taken out more than enough garbage in my life (I worked at a gas station for six years), so I know it’s not fun when it melts and sometimes leaks, etc. But normally when I throw stuff away, there isn’t a place to dump ice. This was a parish kitchen, so there was, but I just didn’t think about it at that moment. But that guy didn’t have to publicly chastise me, either. I mean, he full-on lectured me like I had done it just to be a schmendrick.
Oof, I feel your pain! Unnecessarily harsh call-outs are awful. Then comes the unnecessarily harsh self-judgement over having a strong emotional reaction in public.
I hope that guy eventually dealt with whatever he was really unhappy about in a more appropriate way.
I usually do this at fast food places and the cup usually has a lid on it…. Still, I never gave it a second thought and never thought about dumping the ice out somewhere. There is enough things to think and worry about these days.
I would say never go there again…..but it’s the parish kitchen. He should have remembered where he was.
Sorry that happened to you there was no need to scold you like a child. BTW I like your look without glasses quite attractive. U should draw yourself like that more often.
Okay, you need a funny story to go with this. My husband and I were out walking and we had each gotten a soda. Mine was out of ice and I noticed my husband still had some. So I asked him, “Do you want your ice?” He stopped, looked in the cup, and said “I guess not” and promptly dumped it on the grass. We have laughed over that so many times and I hope it made you feel better.
You threw out a cup of ice? I North Dakota? I don’t think there would be a shortage of ice. By instinct I think my middle finger would stand at attention. I hope he never has to stand in front of Dan in a court of law. What a DB.

I’ve done that too but only because my Mom doesn’t want me addicted to ice again

Is there some significance to ice in a cup that escapes me?

A grown a** man shouldn’t scold anyone for anything especially in a Church setting. This has happened to me for various reasons. There is NO excuse.

Thank you for validating the feelings of other people who experience things like this who are dismissed by their elders and peers Amanda

Been there, done that! “Forgive them, they don’t know what they do . . .”

I would be stunned, likely to tears, as well.
I’m concerned about the occupants (human and otherwise!) of his household. Yeesh.
