Why would Flo even joke about such a serious subject?
In all of these years, we have never seen Andy in jail. It is these little offhand jokes that Flo makes on a regular basis, that will eventually destroy Andy’s reputation.
Her friend cannot know for certain whether it is a joke or not, and is too uncomfortable to question Flo any further. She then unintentionally passes that bit of information along to one of her friends and the rumor takes on a life of it’s own.
Flo, think before you speak! Stand by your man and please stop tearing him down!
Bail money?! I laughed after Flo responded the question the young lass asked her about the present for the first anniversary. Sheeshh! I think it must be very funny, eh!
By the way, young lass, give your hubby a stupid pen, anyway. Your hubby can have recycled papers to use up, too.

@jtponzenel: Andy HAS been in jail. If you’ll look in some of the early Andy Capp books, you’ll see our boy has indeed been in the clink.
Flo jokes about the subject because if she didn’t laugh she’d cry.
As to the young lass….give hubby a ten pound note, that should keep him happy at the pub!
