“An Electric Storm” was an album by Delia Derbyshire and David Voorhaus, under the guise of White Noise :.“White Noise – An Electric Storm”Originally released by Island Records in 1969, the debut White Noise album featured Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson, who had worked for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and David Vorhaus, who had studied classical orchestral bass playing and electronics.Tne instrumentation consisted of early electronic instruments and a huge amount of tape manipulation, the standard techniques of the Workshop in those days. The album only emerged on CD – in a “matrix mixed” format – as late as 1996, again on Island, but was rapidly deleted. NOW RE-ISSUED BY UNIVERSAL.http://www.myspace.com/whiteunderscorenoise#! A chick flick can make any man weep—that he is being forced to watch the chick flick!@Number SixExcellent Mad Capps from yesterday, as usual. I suppose you can have Buster appear at any age you like to fit whatever brilliant idea you come up with each week? Or did you decide to keep him at an older age (with the advantage, after all, of talking!) Whatever you decide, I’m always very impressed by your talent.@MikeyjLoved Robin Andy and Friar Chalkie from yesterday.
I know I promised not to post anymore of my poems until Easter but the topic being chick flicks I just can’t resist trotting this one out:
’Tis Dreaded Chick Flick Time Again
‘Tis dreaded chick flick time againAnd we must bear it with a grinFor Brooklyn girlfriends haven’t “loint”To favor movies with a POINTExplosions, stabbings far and wideAnd innards taking peeks outside(Just now, there’s couples nearly partingAt comedies that lack all farting)These chick flick films, five hankie weepersTurn all us boyfriends into sleepers(Or, sometimes turn us into peepersFor very often, goodness knowsWe check out chicks in OTHER rowsThough onscreen “action” will fatigue usLive-action girls will e’er intrigue us)
Then after endless boring hoursWe get rewarded: we get OURS!
The idea was to let you know that as of a few years back, Mr Voorhaus was still performing. Delia Derbyshire herself continued to make experimental music but, sadly, died a few years ago. I don’t think any of her works are still available..If you visit www.bbc.co.uk you might be able to pick up more info on the Radiophonic Workshop and its work.
Forgot to mention that I enjoyed Mike’s Friar Chalkie Andy Robbing drinks too. I Like Robin Andy’s sort of Snidely Whiplash looking moustache also.^^I based his moustache on the old Robin Hood flour bags, that I remember from my youth:
“Jack Acid” was politically relevant in the 1950’s. It is was parody of the John Birch Society.^^they also seem to be parodying East Germany, hinted at by “checkpoint Karli” an obvious reference to the famous “Check point Charlie”, the only access that the “Free World” had into West Berlin.

The album includes a track called “Here Come the Fleas” which is quite amusing and it’s only the title track which is just electronic sound.

Eh, Flo, you’ve only yourself to blame for that — you knew even then that the only thing about which Andy could be sentimental/romantic is some stout!
