They have really dumbed him down, Smythe wrote Capp as a bloody little evil genius, these guys have made him into a brainless boozebag.

@MikeyjI agree with you. I also dislike the way Andy (and Chalkie, and the rest of the cast for that matter) have been dumbed down. That’s why I really detest the “quiz night” strips. Dumb jokes and tired old malaprops are just the signs of lazy writers. But I wouldn’t say that the old Andy was a “bloody little evil genius.” He was clever and cunning, yes, constantly plotting and scheming. But I think a “genius” should probably have a higher success rate!
