Odd… the new job centre employee is behind the glass in panel one and somewhat in front thereof in panel two.

Last Sunday, I mentioned that 16 October 1976 was an important date for comics in my childhood as it was the date on the last issue of Valiant and on the first issue of Krazy. 22 October 1977 was the date of the first issue of Cheeky Weekly which was a spin-off from Krazy featuring a character called Cheeky. It began the week after Krazy celebrated its first birthday. It was more successful than Krazy so it had a second birthday issue in 1979 before finishing early in 1980.

Cheeky had his own strip in Krazy and was also a member of the Krazy Gang (named after a comedy team called the Crazy Gang who included Bud Flanagan who sang the theme song to Dad’s Army). When Krazy finished, the Krazy Gang continued to appear in Whizzer and Chips. Cheeky Weekly merged with Whoopee!! and Cheeky continued to appear in Whoopee!! until it merged with Whizzer and Chips. This merger also saw the end of the Krazy Gang.

It doesn’t matter how many job openings there are, or what the quality of the jobs are. Andy’s…not…working.

Lots of job openings here also despite talk of a recession. Unfortunately with over a million dead Americans from Covid many in their prime earning years there’s an ongoing labor shortage in all sectors. One example is I’m at the store deli and they’ll be closing early due to a staffing shortage. The next time you get stuck in a long line with one clerk don’t get upset at them since I’m sure they’d love more help on the floor
