When I went to the farmers’ market back around 1953, several stalls had chickens and I thought, “Wow! They sell pet chickens here.” My mother never bought one. I never really noticed when pet chickens ceased to be sold, but, reminiscing in 2010, I realized those chickens were to be pets for only one day. [Inb4 puns about “fowl” play.]
