G’ morning annie Fans. Today’s stipr could have been improved by saying “very band ting” instead of “very bad thing.” ;-)Anyway, here’s chapter 12 of LOAAS.LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE AND SANDYBy Harold Gray, 1933CHAPTER 12 – The Enemy’s Movements

It was almost dusk one night when Annie slipped along the road to a certain spot. It was a lonely piece of road and Annie hid behind a tree where she waited until she heard the roar of an engine being driven rapidly past. Then she peeked out, taking care to keep in the shadow of the tree trunk. She saw a long, shining roadster. The driver was alone. “Elmer Pinchpenny,” she murmured. “Now where can he be headed for? It’s after dark. There! He’s taking the road to Millburg.”

Annie was on the sidewalk again by this time, staring after the car as it took the turn on two wheels. She did not hear two boys come up behind her, but she turned around when they spoke. “Gee,” said the older one. “That’s a swell car Elmer’s got, isn’t it? He drives over to Millburg after supper every Saturday night. My brother says.”

Annie always seemed indifferent when someone mentioned Elmer Pinchpenny, and now she only said, “Yeah? Well, he’s probably got a good reason for goin’. I’m sure it’s nothin’ to me where he goes or when.”
