A few years ago, one of our local cops (Tredyffrin Twp. in the Philly suburbs) thought he was chasing a mere speeder, not realizing the man was an armed bank robber making his get-away with his terrified girlfriend.
After an amazing chase on all the major highways that run thru our township, the man stopped his car in a field, said to his GF “I’m not going back to prison”, and got out of the car shooting.
The cop, still in his car and trained to do so, drew his weapon, fired through his own windshield, and killed the man. I later saw the windshield with four bullet holes in it. Scary. We can’t pay these guys enough.
As for the “moron” crack, the stereotype of the dumb cop is way obsolete. Thanks to the demands of technology and the intricacies of the law, they can’t hire dummies.
