I can’t believe that Daddy is taking this so non-chalant. I know he isn’t trusting local authorities, but it has taken some time for the others to gather information. The Daddy I knew was not sitting behind a desk saying “You can say that again.”

Hey, Bill, your new avatar is from D Day. Were you involved in that?

As for your being in the eastern time zone, I am so sorry. We spent those 10 days there, and it’s so hard to exist with everything centered on the west coast. How do you handle Monday Night Football??

The D Day avatar gives me a question for those who can answer it. I’M sure some of you weren’t around yet?

Where were you when it all ended, and news of the Japanese surrender triggered factory whistles and church bells across the country?

I lived in a small town (Willits) in northern CA. I was almost fourteen and was outside the house on the outskirts of town. When I heard all the lumber mill whistles start, I ran inside the house yelling, “The war’s over. The war’s over.”.

And just writing this has gotten me choked up.

Lonewolf, how are you doing this (my local) hellishly hot evening? Itgpt up to 100 plus today, As the locals like to say, “but it’s a dry heat”. Hot is hot, humidity just makes it unbearable, and it’s gonna be monsoon season soon.

How’s the weather over your way? What state?

Slim & Leaky, I’m doing fine. Had a long day with our son graduating 8th grade. Went out to eat with relatives afterward.

Here in ChiTown it got hot & humid with rain off and on today. It was muggy at the graduation. They held it in a high school gymnasium. Very sticky and tiring.
