Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for October 29, 2014
Transcript:
Janis: The past just comes at you out of the blues these days! Arlo: I don't recall you talking about this guy! Janis: We were part of a crowd! We weren't a couple exactly - just buddies! Arlo: So? Janis: He's a stranger to me now! All we have in common are memories I might rather leave alone. Arlo: He looks like Santa Claus! Janis: See!

That’s exactly why I quit going to my HS class reunions…they kept letting all these old people in.

And, perhaps, he knows if you’ve been bad or good… (Not that I believe that Janis could ever be truly bad.)♫ He’s making a list, Checking it twice; Gonna find out who’s naughty or nice… ♫

I met a close friend I hadn’t seen for about 15 years and it turned out we were strangers to each other by then.

Hey! I resent Arlo’s statement. Just what is wrong with looking like Santa? :) I have a pretty good rendition of that going myself, other than having a much smaller bowl-full-of-jelly than I used to. But, other than that, I pretty much fit the bill.

There’s nothing wrong with looking like Santa! Who is more beloved? And have a look at Arlo’s (sort of) namesake, Arlo Guthrie:

I’m Class of ‘53, and my husband is Class of ’52, St. Pete H. S. His two best friends now are classmates he hadn’t had much to do with till our 50th and 60th reunions. The 60th reunion was mine – he got with an old motorcycle acquaintance. When you get up toward and past your 80’s, old, old friends may start demonstrating the truth of a round we used to sing in Girl Scouts: “Make new friends/But keep the old./One is silver,/And the other, gold.”

I went to my 40th reunion and was happy to discover I wasn"t the only one who quit Weight Watchers.

As long as she did it with Arlo she would not be naughty but nice.
