Janis: Oh, goody! Arlo's gift is here! Janis: Wow! This bog is bulky! Where th' heck will I stash this for the next three weeks? Janis: ...so I thought we needed an end table in here! I think it turned out well! I have a lamp, a place to set a glass...

As long as she doesn’t jabber about it too much she just might get away with the ruse for the next 3 weeks.

I once moved into a new house and having little furniture I did that with the unpacked boxes until I could buy more furniture. The boxes were unpacked yet all who saw them wanted to see what was in them. They did not understand when I answered, ’ look around, that is what’.

new grill?

It is probably a book, an ornament, or a sextant…the size of the box simply allows enough packing peanuts for shipping “safety”.

Brilliant idea – if Janis doesn’t keep talking about it. A guy will promptly forget anything he’s told about “new” furniture, drapes, etc.

I once hid a recliner I purchased for hubby I our two younger girls’ bedroom, which general resembled an explosion in a clothing factory. He walked past it several times and never noticed it.

It’s obvious. It’s a new end table. (Just what Arlo needs…)

Presumably there will be a christmas day punchline to go with this…

Me? I’m guessing an LP. Those things were awful to wrap as a surprise.

When I was little, my parents hid big gifts (like a bike) at the childless neighbors’ house. When I got older, I hid my mom’s presents there too.

Boxes DO make good end tables

I know someone who’s’ mom did that with a new TV for her husband. Except the new TV was covered with a table cloth and turned into the TV stand for the OLD TV. For a whole month he were looking right at his present and didn’t know it.
