She didn’t mean actually do it. Just wanted to talk about it, show intentions and get agreement.

It is considered a very special occasion when my wife and I go out for breakfast. We bring along the Sunday NYTimes crossword and settle in for a couple of hours of puzzles, puns, flirts, out loud laughs, oh, and breakfast. No better time for a date.

Of course he suggested breakfast. That will leave lots of time for other things.

In the village I live in, the volunteer fire department throws a pancake breakfast every 3 months or so. That’s the major breakfast date here.

comicsssfan: Getting in town too early for Christmas Eve services, we went to IHOP. My wife ate so much of that whipped cream, she got sick. Now my standard response to going there is, “mit groß slog?”

For our yearly Anniversary for the past 4 or 5 years our time out is to go see the Christmas light display in a town near us. Free except for the fuel, and something both of us enjoy. 39 years together this Dec 20th.

My hubby and I have been doing breakfast every weekend for the past 12 years. We go to the same place, and by now they know us, they’re quick with the coffee, they always get the order exactly right. We take the newspaper and chat with the staff and the other regulars. It’s our time alone, our outing no matter what else is happening, and we look forward to it every week.

My husband and I used to go out for breakfast about once a week or so. But it really doesn’t count for ‘going out’.
