My grandkids have taught me the tricks to “no school tomorrow snowstorms”: a white crayon in the freezer, wearing your pjs inside out, a spoon under your pillow…and last Tuesday one, or more, worked. Science Schmience…(heehee)
I still wish for snow days and I’ve been out of school for over twenty-eight years. I get excited for the young ones in school today for snow. Around me, snow has been light. Maybe February will be a couple of serious snow storms. I’ll wait and see.
As a former teacher, (There are no ex-teachers), who sometimes subs, I still love snow days, not for me…I lose money if I don’t sub, but for how I know the kids feel…..What a beautiful feeling….To this day I look to see which schools are closed…
Of course when I was a full time teacher, man, I got paid for the day, could roll over and snatch another hour of precious sleep, drink a cup of coffee slowly, thinking about things, catch up on work…What’s not to like? You think kids like snow days? Seriously, ask a teacher how much they love them…Nobody loves snow days more than teachers…..I tell you what….
Only way we could tell it was a snow day was if, after slogging a mile thru the storm, the teacher never showed up for the day with her ol’ ‘39 Chevvy Coupe. Too bad I can’t post my picture of that old one-room schoolhouse without establishing a web-site….for me, an all-afternoon project..(sigh)

I grew up in WY and CO…enough snow to last me a lifetime. I live in Phoenix and wouldn’t care if I NEVER saw snow again!
