The hottest day that I can remember is the day that we could not get the cats to stay in the house. Every 15 or 20 minutes we’d go out to the back yard and drag them into the air conditioning. 15 or 20 minutes later, they’d be trying to escape by clawing through the back door. So we’d let them go out and lie motionless on their sides, looking like a pair of giant dead rats.
If it was so important to HER then why didn’t SHE go get him? It’s not like she was busy doing any “women’s” work. Maybe if she was she wouldn’t have the time to try to control everyone else’s life.
“Have a cool spot for you pets and fresh clean water during heatwaves.” So the dogs go lie out in the sun and drink from the drip pans under our strawberry towers.
JJ once wrote a panel which described that a cat can sweat through it’s paws which is why they will lie on their backs with their feet up to cool themselves. They can also separate their hair to allow air to get to their skin. Cats aren’t human no matter what Janice may think.
Our indoor/outdoor cat will go out on a hot day and rest under a small evergreen bush that over hangs the walkway. When she has had enough she asks in to sleep in the air conditioned house. Normally we don’t argue with that proclivity, but when it reaches 98 and higher we bring her in sooner than she likes.
We have an all season sun room on the back of our house and it is NOT air conditioned or heated but our cat loves it in the summer and will not stay in the house where it is cool. Even on the hottest day he is laying on the floor on in a patch of sunlight. I bring him in and he stays about 10 minutes and then he is off again. Silly Cats.
As long as you give them options, they will be fine. In summer, our cats usually wanted to hang out in warm places while the dogs would head for the cool concrete floor of the shop, or would camp out on top of the AC ducts.

When the spouse says do it, you better do it.

When the spouse says, “I want to do such-and-such”, she’d better not complain when I don’t do it.

Cats are from Africa and still have that love for heat.
